This project is a renovation and extention of an old existing house from the 1970s, where the arches were predominant in the facades and the windows were small. Therefore, in combining expertise in building renovation together with an elegant and modern extention; the scheme presents a spectacular renovated residential house in the area.
The site falls 4 metres below street level, so the entrance terrace, with space for three parked cars, becomes the arrival level from the street. From this level a staircase leads down through the levels of the house to the lower garden terrace.
At lower garden level, which is the main level, the house opens out towards the west with living areas, bedrooms and dining areas overlooking the garden. The main living area is the family domain containing the book-lined hearth and the open kitchen on one side of a double height living space. The upper level includes an observation deck as well as a small library, the master room and another on suite bedroom.
The western facade is completely glazed with alternating transparent and translucent panels to vary the quality of light and privacy. The free-flowing design dissolves the threshold between interior and exterior, maximising the experience of luxury outdoor living.
