Located in Cala Vadella, on the west coast of Ibiza island, and attending to the client’s desire, this project proposal was designed mostly of concrete, with a combination of traditional elements in a modern style, giving place to open spaces where the circulation becomes of big importance between indoors and outdoors, taking advantage of the south orientation towards the sea and valley.
This particular project proposal was of high complexity due to building with seen concrete, introducing all MEP elements into the structure plans in order to be able to pour the concrete with all elements in place, leaving no flexibility to future changes. Designed with a large team of engineers, architects, lighting specialists and interior designers, the house is arranged primarily over a single level, combining discreet family accommodation with generous spaces for entertaining.
The architecture draws strength from the concrete finish used to create monumental forms which contrast to the surrounding landscape. Also, the exterior elements are also studied to be concrete poured, introducing water elements and some local vegetation and lighting to make this concrete element be able to blend into its surroundings.
The spaces are large and luxurious in the ground floor, whereas all the technical and service spaces are intelligently located in the basement, making the circulation of staff and maintenance simple. The combination of inside and outside circulation enables the house to offer the family and its friends an exceptional degree of community, as well as respecting the privacy of the individuals.
