Located in Benirras, in the north of the Island of Ibiza, this house has been built on a south-facing site with uninterrupted valley views for a young family with modern taste in architecture without losing the traditional architecture consistent on different volumes that form each space. The site is located in an agricultural area, where the challenge was to integrate the the house into the countryside without interrupting this landscape and yet creating a modern ibicencan style with a modern touch. This, together with strict local planning regulations gave way to what now one of the best villas in the area.
Organised on a single level, the house opens out towards the south with living area, dining area and bedrooms overlooking the pool and views. The main living area is the family domain, although the owner has a personal interest in cooking and wanted the kitchen to be a special gathering space, which is reflected in a professionally equipped large kitchen with dinning space, separated from the living room with it’s own exterior access and directly connected to an outdoor dining area.
The northern facade is mostly opaque, alternating transparent, white and stone, to vary the quality of light and privacy, using local and traditional textures in order to integrate the house to its surroundings, whereas the south is totally open with modern large sliding doors, to create an indoor/outdoor continuum.
The combination of inside and outside circulation enables the house to offer the family and its friends an exceptional degree of community, as well as respecting the privacy of the individuals.
